The moon is not risen when I turn
on my side to watch him sleep,
stretched pale and naked as I speak:

Sweet boy of innocent face and
delicate ears that I love to trace,
painting smiles with my finger—

let the world know who you are,

A lusty boy with carob eyes, and
lashes like moth wings that shade me
in a darkened birch bow.

Luscious brows knit easily. Your face
bursts open when you smile; your eyes
