Poetry Contest

Write about how love and infatuation are either different or alike.
Infatuation- an intense but short-lived passion or admiration for someone or something.

Love- an intense feeling of deep affection.

Two words that often cross roads during middle and high school. Is there really a difference between them? Write about it!

rules

1. Must argue about how they are different or how they are alike
2. A maximum of 2 entries per poet
3. New poems only
4. Be as creative as possible

Hoping to not have the extreme content warning but that's for the writers to decide.

Love is eternal
it is everything close to how you feel for your beloved  mother
Love is when tears automatically fall when your lover is gone
Love is caring for someone you once loved but now you claim to hate
love is Infatuation repeatedly
Infatuation being last
and a section of love
a consequence of sexual desires
clouding our judgement
with our minds deceiving our hearts
a natural adaptation of the body while it struggles to get its desires

In my view
Love sparks off from infatuation
Peep the clue
From this situation

He looks out
There stands a girl
After careful examination
He cooks something to tell

He has seen the face
All the endowments
Now he is love crazed
Dying for involvement

But just suppose
She was ugly and skinny
Will he propose
Or will he do all the scheming?

True love is blind
Infatuation looks
But call it to mind
You will catch the emotional crook

We look first
And then we see
If what's there quenches the thirst
Then love comes to be

So I can't be wrong
Love is real
But infatuation brings it on
That's just how I feel

Thank you to you all for starting this off and I do apologize for how late I took notice. As always from DU there's remarkable writing and these pieces really make you think on the topic. I've always thought of them kind of the opposite way when I saw Romeo & Juliet. I forgot to mention that I will not be judging this competition.

If I gave a man a potion,
Would he fall in love.
Would the chemicals in his brain react,
And dope him like a drug.
Or would he fall infatuated.
Obsess and go insane.
Would he cry or would he scream?
Would he lose his mind or just his brain.
Would he hurt himself for me,
Or me for someone else.
Love cannot be simulated,
But infatuation is stimulated.
So if I gave a drug to he,
He would fall obsessed with me.

boom, crack, boom crack!!!
the spark at first sight
a beautiful convergence

so bright and gloomy,
it could blind my eyes
manna from heaven

smooothened by the hands of god
meant for us to savour
such that, with my fortune, we coulda exchange

all of this woulda compress the whole world
into minute old sensational pleasures,
there after, that's when concience calls

and whisper into thy ear that,
.....love is the sweet substitute of this
temporary madness

Infatuated with Love

in love with love
an all consuming fire
the trembles
of lust within a tummy
butterflied and wanting more
a touch that burns
set the eyes in tears
to douse the flames below
mad coupling throughout
the heat of the night
every dusk burning bright
besottedly infatuated

the dusts that tremble
on top of burning ember
flashes of satisfaction
willingness to share
a bed, a smile, a life
gentle unions
the bonfire mere flickers
warmth is within one heart
one soul in two bodies
living as one...
True Love.

the myth

Once upon a time, born from within
She was human
He was Her world

He fell in Lust with Her
She fell in Love with Him

She said

"The unicorns of the universe united us
When they gallop in my heart
I see angels without wings
That melt the glacier footprints
With endless flames forming
Melted through you
I become whole
Mind
Body
Soul"

She was infatuated with a flaming fever
An all consuming hunger
To be near Him
To die
To live

Together through threads
Of unbearable Love
As below
As above

I love your very essence,
I love every fiber of your being,
I love your very presence.
To love is to let go,
to let fly, not to ask why
and burns like an inferno.

In you I have infatuation,
I need to hold and to control,
you are my possession
not a free spirit or soul.

Love will set us free.
Infatuation is just for me.
Infatuation can be narcissistic and lacks sincerity,
love is majestic and involves empathy.
The two are worlds apart,
Love will light your heart,
Infatuation will tear you apart.

Sorry I posted the same poem twice

Hopeless Nomantic

Love is romantic attraction sprinkled with emotional attatchment, as two people
discover more of themselves while discovering more of each other...
Infatuation is the deep seeded need to feel whole by physically (and or otherwise) being with someone.
Being their centre of attention. It really makes me sick.
How could I have once been so giving. So forgiving
So much that I've forgotten about myself.
Don't give your reality over to lust.
One second you'll be getting high, The next second, drug bust!

Love Moderately

Love moderately I tell you
Because too much passion kills a man
Love in a fallen world can breed destruction
Love moderately I tell you
Because the only love that overflows comes from above
And we are incapable of reaching such a mark
Love moderately
Because too much love comes from the darkness and losing the light means we have no honour nor true glory
Real passion doesn't bring down bridges it builds nations because if what really lies in our hearts is true passion it shall be like a flower that blooms in winter, that manages to flourish dispite it all
Because when we love what we ought to do, working for it moderately means it won't overpower you but you can gradually gain the power of Love

(I didn't use the work infactuation because its hard to distinguish between the two)
