I was originally going to write a poem by this title, but I simply couldn't find the words for it. So, I pass the torch to you.

Write a poem or story by the title "Teaching An Angel To Use Her Wings." (Or his, depending on what you're into )

Teaching an Angel to Use Her Wings

for David Gahan

I am a dancer, candles lit,
pills gone. Alone with that voice.
Biblical. Intravenous.

I've danced this way since I was thirteen
in my mother's purloined negligee.
Blood and rhythm
a Bosch-like garden of delights.
Electroshock in my bedroom.

I pirouetted like a graceful,
dead thing. All rabid-spider
majesty. Writhing to haunted
vocal cords while nectar
and vinyl rainstorms
filled my hands.

Fatherless and hungry,
the mirror tells me I have not changed.

Vowels linger.
Consonants drip sensuously
but he's as far away
as sanity.
I offer this visceral striptease
in his abeyance,

a confused angel
wrestling with angels.

Spread them
Spread them wide
The wider you spread them
The higher you’ll fly

Wider, wider more
Don’t be shy
Show God and Heaven
That you want to try

Now get ready
My little fledgling
It’s time for you
To take to wing

Just let me give you
A little push from behind
I’ll promise if you let me
Together we’ll soar on high

The distant bright crimson horizons
Fade away as the thick smoke rises
Soon after, the red moon follows
Through the dark cloud of no tomorrow

Now there's nothing to lose, and nothing to gain
I watch blood and fire fall like summer rain
Explosions and screams are the last things I hear
While the cloud consumes all, both far and near

Just this Last Time!!!

Let's soar high and make the zenith our reach,
take some deep air of courage and breath out all your fears,
step on your right foot and assume the heights are levelled with the slime,
spread your wings like a cherub,
stretch your feets and thighs like a seraph,
let's jump off the cliff of death,
sooner or later our predators will arrive,
we risk jumping to death or standing still as preys of dead,
let's incline on the horizon,
maybe we'll overcome the skies depths,
our destination lies only in the yonder,
I see the rage in your eyes,
make them ignite the adventure and I'll be like a horde behind your vanguard.

The sun is falling down the west,
the moon appears overhead,
time to feast on flesh,
time to get wild with blood,
the beast is coming,
let's fly lest we fill the hungry demons,

Infallible Angel,
try and even if you fail I'll parachute you down the mountain top,
and when we fall further,
we will be swaying through the valleys in the lower breeze,
we'll pro'bly get used to it till we soar high against the storm and the tide exhaust behind our past,
we will fly o're the earth,
then,
I'll sleep over your wings with fears of crashing buried in the clouds,
You'll take us on perfect flights like the Angel you are,
awake that trust in me and try once more.
