The coldest cut of shoulder

Nerves twist around the words
as a boa constrictor squeezing
the life out of a rat heavy
from the midsummer rain.
My throat burns with bile
as smoke from the burning
ashes of heart waft through
tubes of tainted tissue
till my breath grows a pair
worthy enough for revenge.

♫ A song for Granddad ♫

She won't talk
but she'll sing her heart out
if you give her a note
and she'll make a muso's grimace
to show you
she means every word of it

when Sophie sings a song
the rest of the world
might as well
be dead

The Wanderlust You Find

Of lonely
wandering souls
there are certain things
that one knows
down
down

concealed
in the deepest  depths
are core truths

that
not all who wander
should be considered lost
when who but the feet
walk those rocky paths

So alone
not even the birds song
could silence
the thud
thudding
of the heart drumming
that beat
marching onwards

Home
wherever the heart may roam

be it love
of ever changing sunsets

or in the arms
of the one
together
watching the moon chase the sun

Die for me a thousand times
say breathe and you inhale
Except
I inhaled all wrong.

Deeper breaths come on
suck me up you're fucking nose
I'm a way of life
so

Surrender it
give it over-
its mine
I'll take a side of blood with those feelings

don't be so god-damn stubborn

to be honest I need more love than that
you weren't enough I'm not ashamed
of that

I remember that last time
I lay under you raw
scraped
like a fucking cat in a gutter
still

and you didn't even notice I was gone.

My ears catch the sound
of breaking hearts,
and unspilled tears.
My hands still ache
to touch your cheek, though.

My eyes catch the sight
of sad poems,
that loop into nonsense,
repeating the words "I love you,
where did you go?".
My fingers still crave
to spell out your name
on this blank canvas, though.
Make every curve and shade
signify how I’m awed by you.

The danger of falling in love
envelops me.
My heart still longs
to fall for you, though.

Time Fades Away

As a child, looking up was problematic for me
The constant screaming and shouting bowed my head
In my teens there was no rebellion, still no looking up
Just more people to fear, more downward pressure applied
In my twenties there was a light at the end of my tunnel
The light became too bright, so I bowed my head yet again
In my thirties there was no respite everyone was a bully
Family, friends, colleagues – all of them needed my obedience
In my forties I occasionally raised it above the parapets
It appears that your 40’s is an age to be beaten down harder
In my fifties I was clearly being punished for my forties
I started to feel like I was just another winging teenager
Angry in my sixties, saw no benefit from continuing as a door mat
Grumpy, I'd shout and growl, the door mat is worn, yet not replaced
Now in my 70’s, you can all piss off in short jerky movements
My head fully raised after all these years, time fades away
Unlike me, I am refusing to fade away or behave as expected

coffee date

I ask you to
Have coffee with me.

But what I really want - - -

I want my hands,
One on each side of your face,
Pulling your face to mine.

I want to,
Press my lips against your lips,
My tongue to touch yours.

I want my hands to,
Slide down your neck,
Your shoulders,
Your arms,
To wrap them around,
Your body.

I want to pull,
Your breast against my chest,
Your nipples against mine,
So that I can feel them,
Aroused against me,
As I hold you in my arms.

I want,
Your thighs,
Tight against mine;
My pelvis,
Pressing against yours.

I want you to rise,
On your toes,
Straining against me,
Holding your lips,
Against mine.

I want to hear your breathing,
Quicken,
Your breathe soft against my cheek,
As my lips kiss your ear.

I want the taste of your scent,
In my nose,
Touching my tongue,
As I kiss your neck.

I want the whisper of your voice,
Asking me,
For more,
Promising me more.

I want all of you.

But,
Instead,
I ask you to coffee.

Gonna put this one forward, Mikki the Moondancekid

Of diamonds

It's not a home
more just somewhere to live
lay the head down
after a long days talking

its a house that echoes
the slight ring when a teaspoon
taps against the side of cheap china

echoes, like brass bells

its a shell
that houses a collection of memories
boxed up, stacked neatly
and tucked away in wardrobes
among the clothes
that wait for the thumb up
or thumb down
that'll see them either packed into cases
or black bags labeled charity

it's not home
