Cliques,
Sitting at the Lunch Table Talking About How Other Girls Are Sluts And Whores,
Walking up to other people and Telling them their worthless,
Walking In The Hallways,One In Front And Two in The Back,
Walking in The Back Like a Bunch Of Fucking Followers,
Plastics and "Preps",
Their Everywhere,
I Find It Funny,
They try to Out live Each Other,
Someone Gets a New Boyfriend,
She Automatically Becomes a Slut,
I Find This Fucking Stupid.
Cliques,
The Plastics,The Preps,The Outcasts,The Wannabees,
I'm Somewhere In The Outcasts,But I'm Fine With It,
Atleast I Don't Have To Try And Out live other Girls,
Cliques,
There Pointless

I feel their eyes, they're watching me,
I feel their judgment, they're laughing at me,
Even if wanted them, I couldn't make it,
I'll always be on my own,
Forever in the darkest places,
They say friends are forever,
that they'll always be there,
But all I know is that they don't care,
Just want the benefits, don't care about loyalty,
They're all segregated into groups,
Each one worse then the next,
they say birds of a feather flock together,
And that's so true,
Those tweakers over there,
All they do is blankly stare,
Those jocks over at the wall,
All they want is to get the ball,
I can't be with anyone,
I am alone, forever and always

"Knot In The Loop"

No I am not now nor will I ever be
Within the circle under the cliquing tree
Mirrors reflect the asses being kissed
By the ass kissers on everyone’s list
Who aspire to be elected to an imaginary office
And vote in praise of an all too real orifice

I find it all so distasteful, so full of it
Instead of a kiss, I'd rather get bit
When I offer up my thoughts of critique and of praise
As in my poems those thoughts express my feelings in a phrase
To cast my vote, join the party and tow the line
Would tie the knot around my neck to be a part of that grapevine

I was the first one to walk with this girl
She had straight blond hair that she’d often twirl
She ironed it every morning, before we’d give walking to school a whirl
So she could see how many high school boys honked, at her; my hair had a frizzy curl

Built like a brick shit house
Her boobs made gaps between the buttons on her white blouse
To catholic school we’d go; we’d sit as quiet as a church mouse
I’d pick her up in the morning; always at her house

In the summer, we’d walk to the store
She had money, galore
I, on the other hand, was poor
She always bought makeup before walking out the door

Back then, we were shy
At least I was; I didn’t know why
She swayed when she walked and never had rashes between her thighs
Unlike me, ungainly and odd; I secretly wanted to die

One day, she stopped to pick up a girl next door
I had never spoken to her; her parents were rich and owned a store
And from that day on, I stepped to the back; I didn’t know what for
Or what really was in store

It didn’t take long, before I’d get to her house, and she’d already left
When I asked why, she said she must have decided to forget
that I was her friend first; a precedent had been set
Soon, they stopped at another house and had another girl to get

All three started wearing shorter skirts together
with fishnet stockings; they were jet setters
I, on the other hand, was not allowed to be a trendsetter
There was no money for things like fishnet stockings; I knew better

She never spoke to me at high school and beyond
Whatever we shared was gone
Like I didn’t exist, and we’d never had a bond
Our friendship whipped away by these girls who waved a magic wand

She never knew that I made up for my shyness after I graduated
I grew into my own, but my newfound beauty became ill-fated
Men used me, which is something that I hated
Being attractive, I now know, is overrated

One day, before we stopped walking to school
I found pills in her panty drawer; she’d thought me a fool
I knew what they were; she told me to not tell her mother; she had to live by the catholic rule
Her daughter, it seemed, was fucking older boys in school

Thinking back on those days, I realize one thing
She was using me to compare to the attention she would bring
Even my mother said that it was not fun being a third wing
Called cliques now, I’m still not over the pain that they eventually did bring

Did I mention that back then I was fat?
I missed that
It doesn’t matter, though, life is tit for tat
I got more hits under my belt than she did before she got up to bat

Those N.T.'s

They have an unspoken language
filled with endless ways to mean something different
and implications are added by omitting all genuine effort
to communicate with an outsider

pretentious.

a derogatory snort wearing a smile
that looks down derisively on anyone genuine

labeling the world and organizing people
into their places
with tongues that wag more than puppy tails
and tales that seal the fate of the damned
categorically

too often these majorities
claim exclusivity
to exploit the minority
and maybe the stupidity
the sheer absurdity
seems transparent

but
it's only see through from one side

thanks for all the interesting entries.

Does anyone see the harm of cliques on a global scale? Think of the groups of elite in history who have caused death and destruction to those different from them...

Really when you stop to think for just a second,
Let me take a moment of your time to tell you what I reckon.
What is the reason for the things we call cliques,
Aren't we just dropping people into a room and telling other people their free to take their picks.

Where has that gotten us really take a look,
See all the lives that cliques have shook.
Now blacks are a clique and were never treated right,
Beaten and taken as slave's less then anything white.

Believe it or not Nazi's were too,
You weren't worth having around unless your eyes were blue.
Took all the Jews and locked em up and threw away the key,
This is exactly why cliques make No sense to me.

For my closing statement all I'd like to say,
You are so much better off if away from cliques you stay.
Judge not lest ye be judged, do un to others as you would have do un to you,
Have a mind of your own don't follow the crowd and stay strong and true.

Yes, I caught that you were thinking of a bigger picture. That's appreciated. I encourage other entrants to include both personal experience and the broader perspective details.

I thought of Nazis too... tho the army was significantly larger than "small" (as the definition of clique is "small group".) But the point is still strong: Damage caused by the attitude of "you're not one of us and therefore are less than desirable creatures; You are not worthy of kindness/respect/etc...Hell, you don't deserve to live" so the extremists say.

Thanks all for entries. How about violent street gangs, the KKK, the proud religious type who will not help a dying man on the street...?

You walk into a room and all eyes are on you.
They stare and silently judge you with a smile.
You're not one of them and everyone can feel it.
They're all confident they have it all, they're wrong.
They hate themselves for not being who they are.
They hate you for being brave enough to wear those stockings, for listening to rock, for wearing red lipstick, for wearing black like everyday is a funeral, for being free.
I smile...
I'm not accepted for accepting myself.
