Hey everyone. For this comp, I want you to write a poem in which each line except for your title consists of a book title. They need not be famous books, but be sure to italicize or underline each title. The books can be novels, memoirs, anthologies, poetry collections, etc. Anything goes so long as it is a book.

Sweet Memories

She still had so much to learn traveling 'Into The Mist' on that long spiritual journey.
Finding intoxicating freedom on the way to 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.'
Weaving stories in 'The Red Tent.'
That it is possible to adjust to change by following
'The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People.'
Creating sweet memories more delicious than 'Cheesecake Madness.'
She realized man cannot live on 'Bread Alone.'
There is more to life than good or evil printed on the skin of
'The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo.'
Even in 'The Language of Flowers' love can be found.

(could not figure out how to underline or italicize on my computer, so frustrating!..thus the quotations on the titles…hope that suffices)

8 Lives Left

The Cat In the Hat told Big Little Lies
But couldn't outrun The Wizard of Oz.
The Color Purple is his favorite Fifty Shades of Grey.
Because of The Scarlet Letter on his Lonesome Dove,
his only recourse is to Eat, Pray, Love.

Go Ask Alice
Where The Rainbow Road is.
Even though I Know Where The Red Fern Grows
And I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings,
She knows more; she's Carrie,
She's Columbine, she's why I Am Not Myself These Days,
And she's locked in The Bell Jar
Waiting for her Junky to get her
Because she's tired of standing over the Wuthering Heights.

Funny Little Story of Young Love and Depression

Strolling at Mansfield Park
With Emma and Lolita
I seek comfort, my life's suddenly a New Moon, dark
See, I'm in love with Will Grayson, Will Grayson's friend
It was Twilight when it happened, driving in a fast car
"What's the matter then," they ask, "What again is The Fault in Our Stars?"
My depression, probably, and Pride and Prejudice
Lack of Sense and Sensibility, ignorance isn't always bliss
In my world, my bads Eclipse my goods
A thing that some Little Women or Jo's Boys misunderstood
I know there's An Abundance of Katherines and Alaskas in our circles
And a little of me, little of Jane Eyre, lover of purple
Angels and Demons in her head
Maybe I'm hiding under The Bell Jar, and can't see clearly
The Lost Symbol of love he showed me
If this is the case, don't call the guy from A Study in Scarlet, Sherlock Holmes
We can drive through Paper Townsand find our way home!
In each other's arms, of course, need no Persuasion
We'll drink from the Goblet of Fire of our own passions
Have A Room of One's Own, A Room with a View
That is...if he's not Looking for Alaska, my inner voice whispered
And before Anne of Green Gables takes him from you!
So quickly, I said my goodbyes to Emma and Lolita
I wouldn't wait One Thousand and One Nights to be with Edward Rochester
It was December, I had no sweater, but Let it Snow

once upon a time in the north
in a great wooden barn by a bend in the river
Anne of the island: the quiet american, read aloud
howl kaddish and other poems
to the picture of Dorian Grey nailed to the east wall
then she sang a song of ice and fire
to the time traveller's wife drinking gin in the corner

Peter Pan whispered
To the Catcher in the Rye
Said "Look Back in Anger"
But for All the King's Men
Holden couldn't Behold the Man
So with a Handful of Dust
And the Vile Bodies of his enemies in mind
Peter soaked in the Other Side of Silence as Holden cried
"If Not Now, When?"

THE ALCHEMIST knew THE NAME OF THE WIND
THE DOORS OF PERCEPTION
THE NAME OF THE ROSE
THE NEVER ENDING STORY
as he walked FROM THE TREE TO THE LABYRINTH
past THE CRYSTAL CAVE
OUT OF THE SILENT PLANET
ANGELS AND DEMONS
spoke of THE WEIGHT OF GLORY
THE PROBLEM OF PAIN
AT THE BACK OF THE NORTH WIND
LILITH spoke
"ELEVEN MINUTES"
"VERONIKA DECIDES TO DIE"
She became a WARRIOR OF THE LIGHT
And received THE GOLDEN KEY
BY THE RIVER PIERDRA I SAT DOWN AND WEPT

Viva Austerity( where books burn)

O brave new world, where did we go wrong
Was our journey to the universe premature
Held back behind the dune
By unseen forces gazing through the looking glass
Offering up modern utopias to the masses

Here we stand human all too human
With an inkling beyond good and evil
The revolution died in nineteen eighty four
