Poetry Contest

"There's a reason CELL rhymes with HELL."
As of April 2014, there are 327,577,529 cellphone users in the United States alone (source: Wikipedia).
"Who doesn't have one? Stephen King's utterly gripping, gory and fascinating novel doesn't just ask the question 'Can you hear me now?' It answers it with a vengeance."

Write your interpretation of the above novel in any poetic form, not exceeding 300 words. Watch trailers of the movie in YouTube to have an idea, if you don't have a hardcopy of the book.

Questions, PM me.

The future was vast but soullessly empty.
Buffered by the handhelds we revered.
Unknowingly they had our control as the
conduits that power modern cities!!

Like a Viral Technogeddon they had snuck
into our lives.  They counted upon their
secret coming.  So illusive and also sublime!

If only our future self could of warned us.
Where this was heading and how truly grave it
might be!  This viral nano plague of self-
entertainment of technology.  Would become
the seeds of inescapable omens.  As well as
an apocalyptic seething rancid reality underneath.

The Cell

Ringing no reply
waiting almost breathless
then a short ring
a text message
on the Cell
smileys made her day

glory to God, they praise
unto him they give all
a press of an alphabet
he explodes in ecstasy
the Cell that links
many to their maker

a silent tear,
condolences from afar
sadness typed on screen
the Cell
flowers for an aching heart
spoken silently soothing

the Cell small and big
adhering to the wrists
like second pulses
needful to our hearts
imagine life without it
grim indeed like grey days.
