Farm as if you will live forever;
Live as if you will die tomorrow.
Philosophy of a Scottish farmer that inspired this poem
From our ancestors we inherit the earth
For our children we must retain its worth
Beware of creating pollution
Go for a green solution
Or our offspring will live with dearth
Our personal lives have an impact
On those with whom we are in contact
Our actions should not harm
Or ever try to cause alarm
We should seek to keep the peace intact
When in the end we must die
And our friends must say goodbye
Let's hope it is said
That the path we led
Was an example none would decry
Live as if you will die tomorrow.

His lips upon mine; my true meaning of life
Anonymous
Construed Consciousness
I see you stumbling
through seasons of sages
in a vast orchard of ripened fruit
the earth beneath your feet soggy
reshaping to your subtle demands
secreting the stale scent
of too much time
exuding fear
I enter with you
the supple branches, bent
with the wind
our minds grind like old stones
against the tides
rippled with thousand deaths
becoming your mirror
mouths taste of decay
searching for the truth
Reciting backwards in empathy
we see all the miracles and hues
I gather you in my hands
tattered and fragile
my fingers cherish every wound
as my own
this life was more than we ever needed
now wiser than the shadows
carved with consciousness
we stand before a
destroyed god
I see you stumbling
through seasons of sages
in a vast orchard of ripened fruit
the earth beneath your feet soggy
reshaping to your subtle demands
secreting the stale scent
of too much time
exuding fear
I enter with you

Mind The Mind
A closed one deflects truth
Gathers moss
Aimless
An open one floods the earth
Til we all muck about in mana
Oversaturated with a good thing til we're sick with it
An enlightened one whispers as it's spirited...
Those that become like sails get lifted
Trust in the wind
Be full and proud on your course
And may none follow you but in co-incidence

At school music lessons we sang the following as a round or canon:_
Life is butter
Butter melon
Life is butter melon
Cauliflower
(Life is but a melancholy flower)
Life is butter
Butter melon

Cauliflower
(Life is but a melancholy flower)

He is the meaning of my life.
At least, it still feels that way.
I know the meaning of my life.
He is not the meaning I want.
What I need is: to become
the meaning of my life, for me.
At least, it still feels that way.
I know the meaning of my life.
He is not the meaning I want.
What I need is: to become
the meaning of my life, for me.

Life is a one huge story book,
It all happens from beginning to end.
You can't go back and rewrite what happens,
No, you just keep on flipping the page.
Your story's filled with ups,
Its filled with downs.
And twists,
And turns.
It may seem like a pain,
To go through those ups and downs.
But you know what?
Its your story.
You don't have a chance to go back and rewrite your story, but you do have many opportunities to choose what happens to you next.

You ask poets to look inside the meaning of Life -
How deep does a poet see when imagining this reality?
"Life is the awakening,
the awakening of thy senses." -
Senses that rehash the past, and
gift you the streaming present,
the present experience of awarness.
Experience that builds memories upon choices.
Choice memories from each day until the last.
The open-eyes do admire, silently.
Silently absorbing the truth before you.
Now the mind is receiving what the eyes cannot speak,
yet the unspoken language they harbor, screams wearily.
Screams wearily to time on its swift, fleeting wings.
Yes, to time as it stowes away your soulful ways.
Your ways that were placed carefully and recklessly, I'm afraid.
Carefully and recklessly traversing adversity in measured rues.
Treading further into the darkness,
the kind of darkness that hides in the light.
Elapsing moments, seizing to be in these.
In these moments that are tethered to mindful wants and needs.
Woven, loosley woven with lives, lives not of our own.
Yet connected wholly. We are -
Sapplings, and fledglings captured in captivating.
Yes, all these!
Plotted, planned and penned, life never ends.
Only transcends as the cycle continues to lend.
The Earth, Oh the Earth, her lovely breath of life,
her embrace of warm sunshine -
thrills coincide and collide.
While smiles stumble and pleasures chuckle.
Your senses reel to be teased, and you are free to,
to grasp at sounds, scents, visions, tastes and feelings.
Pain is the truth in knowing you are alive.
Awaken the senses, it's called life.
Blind is the eye that cannot see inside.
- Webster is really smart about these things. His explanations are simply put.
{Life: In one account is, the experience of being alive; the course of human events and activities.}

Life complicates things with vicious tales
Of false prophets
The only prophet is the Earth
Who caresses you day in and day out
Breathes life into you
The meaning is to make a meaning
Find something you love
Do it
Be it
Conquer it
It is not to waste your days away
At a desk
Answering calls
9 to 5
Or to
Be the CEO of a corporate business
Because the meaning
Is to be.

I think the clue to the meaning of
life is the 'if' in the middle of the
bloody word...

Miss Le Fay, Miss Le Fay. . .it is said that the only thing guaranteed in Life is Death. . .and I must say that your 1-liner gave me the chills (but in a good way!). So CONGRATS on your win. I couldn't have penned it any better.
And Paul S. (dartford). . .stunning and quite bold. Congrats as Runner-up.
a BIG THANKS to everyone who entered. Enjoyed your take.
(And I said it once, and I'll say it again: I still think DU needs to give out ribbons to runner-ups!)
