Gaps (a funeral home poem)

In the embalming room
ceilings drip
and fluorescent lights dazzle

and the dead splatter on the floor
and this is a dirge to which I return to
all throughout the day.

The embalmers never lift carefully,
they are desensitized by time
and hunger and they pound
the dead with their fists.
Corpses are contortionists,
strange pinatas,

limbs getting twisted
into painful shades of ecstasy.
I must go along with cruelty
and I’m waiting for sockets to give
and the reddest of explosions

but these never happen:
Death is quite thirsty,
surprisingly malleable.

In the Old World, embalmers
would drape cloths over bodies
and eat their meager lunches.
I order a pizza and burnt-brown
bubbles of mozzarella
become liver spots of an old woman.

Look, there is her pie-map
of lacerations,
kisses from nursing home brutes,
Stygian rivers of IV punctures.

Stealthy vampire,
I eat her body like a wafer,
all the memories of a loveless marriage,
children who never came.

Still-frozen frames of life
fill in my gaps.

Death is like sand,
Like a ticking clocks hand.
Time it melts away from us all,
No matter How big, no matter how small.

It's sad none the less and we beg for more time,
But the sand in the hour glass falls not climbs.
All we can do is hope that it's quick,
Surrounded by family glad your No longer sick.

Death is like the truth.
It brings pain and tears,
Death and truth are everything we fear.
We need the pain.
We need the strength.
Truth can give, and death can take.
They are ugly,
So we hide.
We hide the truth of death inside.
We think life is pretty, we see pretty lies.
Yet, we crave to know what death is like.
And we all yearn to know the truth.
When we find out, we don't know what to do.
What do we do? How do we feel?
Its the human condition. Death is real.

Death is.
Death was.
Death will always be.
Death is.
Death is like truth.
Because we hate it.
We spend our entire lives trying to avoid it.
And end the end, we are bitten on the ass.
Death is.
The truth will always be.

Sometimes life is such a bitch
that death comes along to scratch the itch
the one who from earthly life is unhitched
finds heaven in a six foot ditch

Death And Darts

yeah, you bad, you real bad
but I'm cold, real cold
when bad meets cold
there's gonna be a damned reckoning
of magnanimous monstrosity
the art of wickedness tempered
by the art of aero atrocity
to the victor goes the crown and the glory
to the victim goes the woes and the worry
listen closely departing reaper of mens' souls
you bad but me, I be ice chilling cold
and when I hits bull's eyes
you be my bitch for eternity
death never more
life forever roars
bull's eye reaper bitch

The Start Of Acceptance ...... (We Are All Gonna Die)

Clinging to the shreds of your
... love
Using it as armor to protect
me
from that great unknown
... abyss
The one that darkens my
... days
And haunts my dreams
But soon,
I feel I must take that
... leap
grasping hold of the hope,
there may be something
Beyond ...
this life and the pain it
... brings
